Chelsea are interested in signing Eintrack Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitique after securing qualifying for the Champions League next season.
According to an Independent report, they are currently actively pursuing quality strikers and are also very interested in the likes of Viktor Gyoker and Liam Delap. It remains to be seen whether Chelsea will be able to sign a quality goal scorer this summer.
Chelsea will face competition between Arsenal and Manchester United for the likes of Gyoker and Delap. Therefore, they have a wide discussion of Ekitike’s move. The French are also linked to Liverpool.
Recent reports show that Manchester United can also encourage movement for players.
Ekitike is in a great shape
The 22-year-old stands out in the Bundesliga, scoring 22 goals in all competitions. He also has 12 assists in his name. Aside from his ability to score goals, he is exceptional when it comes to taking on defenders and beating them with pace and flare. He was able to add a new dimension to his Chelsea attack. He is versatile enough for the center to work forward and as a wide player.
The opportunity to join Chelsea is also extremely exciting for players. He would want to compete in the Champions League with a big club. Chelsea is certainly one of the biggest clubs in Europe.
Hugo Ekitike is an expensive addition
France’s Under-21 International is valued at around £83.9 million, which could be a major blow to Chelsea. They need to improve multiple areas of the team, and it can prove difficult to spend such money on young attackers.
It remains to be seen whether Chelsea will be able to raise funds for his signature. To buy French attackers, they may need to remove some of their fringe players. He will spend a premium this summer, but he was able to justify his investment in the long run. He has the attributes that will develop into a top-class Premier League attacker.
