In the context of Chelsea’s recent history, the transfer window for the summer 2023/24 has become extremely important.
In the process of spending around £386 million, they brought 12 new players to the club. This brought in a number of sales funded, that is, £226 million, offloading nine players on permanent relocations and five players for free.

This has been a mixed bag so far. Things like Christopher Nukank, Romeo Lavia, Axel Disassi, Robert Sanchez, and others like Leslie Ugochuk, djordje Petrovich and David Washington are still under the microscope.
However, this window already had overwhelming success. Take Moises Caiceco, Nicolas Jackson, and of course Cole Palmer.
Numbers behind Cole Palmer’s rise at Chelsea
It may seem like a long time ago now, but Palmer was signed to the transfer window for the summer 2023/24 and was not the first team starter from off.
His first involvement came from the bench under Mauricio Pockettino and played 28 minutes with Nottingham Forest, 27 minutes with Bournemouth and 22 minutes with Aston Villa.
However, it didn’t take Palmer to become a Chelsea star man, but he has made 78 appearances for the club so far, scoring 39 goals and providing 21 assists in 6,319 minutes.
The 22-year-old is unlucky, especially not having this campaign, and has the highest XA (expected assists) number in the league at 7.34.
However, in the first few weeks of Pockettino, we were seen a particular Chelsea star who was trusted in unfamiliar roles.
Chelsea’s 193 Minute Man
Kearney Chukhuemeka was signed by Chelsea in the summer transfer window of 2022/23 and participated from Aston Villa for a fee of around £20 million. He arrived at the bridge, especially a considerable amount of hype, described by the villa CEO Christian Pandrow as “probably the best 16 year old in the UK.”
Well, after moving to London, his first season with the club was hampered by injuries, but he still appeared in 15 first teams, totaling 362 minutes.
The midfielder then launched his campaign under Pochettino on an offensive midfield/right hybrid roll, starting the first two games of the Premier League season, playing well with Liverpool in the opener, and also netting with West Ham in the second game.
Unfortunately, Chukwuemeka suffered a knee injury in the same West Ham match, which drove him away until January 2024 to prevent him from action.
By this point, Palmer was of course thriving, so the midfielder struggled for a consistent few minutes for the rest of the campaign, hampering more injuries.
Fast forward to ever, the British midfielder was unable to infiltrate the first team under Enzo Maresca, playing only 130 minutes in total for Chelsea.
With a few minutes insufficient, Chukhuemeka lends it to Borussia Dortmund in the January window.
If a young attacking midfielder can gather fitness and start getting consistent minutes somewhere, he clearly has the talent to explode, but it would be very interesting to know in another universe.
