According to Caught Offside, Chelsea have taken the lead in the race to sign Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa.
The Blues appear to have the 23-year-old at the top of their wish list in their 2026 squad plans as they look to strengthen their attacking midfield section. At Stamford Bridge, Rodgers is seen as a player perfectly suited to the physical demands of the Premier League, while also boasting enough technical quality to improve the team on the European stage, with time and space still available for improvement.
But the race isn’t over yet. Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool are believed to be monitoring the situation closely, while Manchester City, who had shown interest before signing Rayan Cherki, could also return to contention.
As for Aston Villa, they have no intention of selling Rodgers at this time and have made that clear to everyone involved, but reports suggest they are offering around 2 billion yen. £80 million might be enough to make them reconsider their stance.
