Liverpool was hit for pursuing Newcastle United striker Alexander Isaac.
Magpie wanted to sign Joan Pedro from Brighton, but they didn’t. The players are currently heading for Chelsea, but it appears unlikely that Newcastle will let a key player like Isaac leave the club without bringing in a quality alternative.
Liverpool handed over the batting of the transfer
Previously, Talksport’s Alex Crook suggested (H/T Liverpool Echo) that if Newcastle signed Pedro from Brighton, it could make it easier for Liverpool to pursue an international Swedish striker.
“They are huge fans of Newcastle’s Alexander Isaac. He wasn’t after his great season when Magpies qualify for the Champions League and ended their seven-year wait for silverware.
“I think this is a difficult deal, but if Newcastle wins the Joan Pedro race in Brighton, it’s something that’s been heavily contested, then you might think there’s a lot of interest from the Premier League and Europe.”
Newcastle is unlikely to sell Alexander Isaac
Newcastle missed the Brazilians and now it will be a major blow to Liverpool. It remains to be seen whether Liverpool has decided to move on to other targets. Next season we need a reliable striker. Darwin Nunes links to travelling from the club. He was extremely overwhelming for Liverpool, scoring just seven goals in every tournament. Liverpool needs an upgrade and it’s still unclear who they will become.
Liverpool has so far been doing impressive business during the summer transfer period, and they are trying to close the windows hard. They should consider bringing in a quality central defender and a reliable finisher. That would have been an exceptional acquisition for them. He is undoubtedly the best striker in the league right now, and he may have changed Liverpool with his offense.
