According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea is reportedly “above” on AC Milan’s goalkeeper Mike Maynyaan’s transfer.
Posted on X (formerly Twitter) to his official account, Romano provided an update last night, saying, “Mike Maignan negotiations, negotiations from the club to the club with Chelsea are still underway.
Mainyan is a world-class goalkeeper who could become a key signature for Chelsea, but it was unclear whether an agreement could be reached before the Club World Cup deadline.
Still, Romano is probably the most reliable transfer journalist in the business, so if he says this story isn’t over yet, that certainly means that Chelsea fans can have optimism…
One of the issues with this story is that according to a report by Football Italy’s Alfredo Pedura, Chelsea does not want to pay Maignan to the relatively low Maignan.
Mike Meignan’s signature is badly needed at Chelsea
Most Chelsea fans will certainly agree that Chelsea will need to get a contract with Mainyan finished this summer.
The 29-year-old shines between in San Siro, and he certainly appears to be a significant upgrade to the unconvincing Robert Sanchez.
CFCs are used to having the best goalkeeper in the world, which has recently relied on modern greats like Petr Cech and Thibaut Courtois.
But while Sanchez isn’t just that standard, Maignan looks like him.
Chelsea are preparing for the Club World Cup
Chelsea will have Mainyan signed in time for the upcoming Club World Cup tournament.
You should see some new faces working for the Enzo Maresca side, such as Liam Delap and Mamadu Sar, whose signatures were announced yesterday.
Bringing Mainyan in it would certainly give a boost as Chelsea aims to win this competition.
