Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea want to pay at least £120m for Enzo Fernandes, amid interest from Real Madrid.
The Argentine World Cup winner has gone from strength to strength since joining the Premier League giants in 2023. He has shown outstanding performances in recent seasons and is on Real Madrid’s wish list.
According to a report from Fichajes, Chelsea are willing to negotiate Fernandes’ departure, but would need at least £120m to let go of one of their key players. Real Madrid are thought to be big fans of the 24-year-old, but his price could complicate matters.
Chelsea aim to make a fortune by selling Fernandes
The London club spent around £106.8 million to sign him from Benfica at the time. The Argentine midfielder quickly established himself as one of the main players and hasn’t looked back since.
Not only is he seen as an integral part of their project under manager Enzo Maresca, but he is also widely regarded as one of the best midfielders in England’s top flight. Fernandes prefers to play as a central midfielder, but is equally effective in offensive as well as defensive roles.
Given his importance, the Blues have no intention of parting ways with him unless they receive a special offer. The London club will only come to the negotiating table if they receive an offer worth £120m, according to reports.
Real Madrid faces an obstacle
Real Madrid are looking to strengthen Xabi Alonso’s midfield and are keen to sign the player, who is known for his financial power, but Chelsea’s evaluation may put them out of contention.
Los Blancos continue to monitor him, but a potential move could require significant sacrifices on their part. They already have Jude Bellingham, Federico Valverde and Eduardo Camavinga in their squad and may have to let one of them go to make room for Fernandes’ arrival.
