Chelsea were interested in signing AC Milan attacker Rafael Leo during the summer transfer period, and now they have stepped up their efforts to get the deal done.
According to a report by Fichajes, they are all ready to go outside to sign a Portuguese international attacker who has 12 goals and 13 assists this past season. He has established himself as a player for an Italian club for many years, and he has been hailed as a “exceptional” player.
Leao also links with Arsenal and has a release clause of £147 million.
Chelsea needs more quality
Chelsea needs more depth and quality with their offensive units, and could be the ideal acquisition for a 25-year-old. Portugal’s International has the technical attributes and physicality that do well in the Premier League, adding cutting edge to the final third.
The opportunity to showcase his qualities in English football is extremely exciting for players. He is at the peak of his power, and he tries to test himself at a higher level. Moving to England might be ideal for him now.
Can Chelsea sign Rafael Leo?
He’s unlikely to become a cheap takeover, and Milan aims to retrieve as much as possible for their key players. It is still unclear whether Chelsea is ready to spend a substantial amount on him. They have qualified for the Champions League and need quality players to do well next season.
Leao could prove to be an upgrade for Mykhailo Mudryk next season if he joins the club.
Meanwhile, the report argues that Portugal International is the preferred target target for Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca. He hopes that Bruce will soon be able to sign a deal.
