Chelsea has linked Ipswichtown striker Liam Dellup’s move at the end of the season, and believes Cole Palmer can play a key role in persuading attackers to join.
Palmer and Dellup will play together in Manchester City, with Chelsea believing that they can help Palmer get a deal across the line.
Graeme Bailey revealed to TBR:
It’s no secret that Chelsea must bring in quality strikers and will be a great addition. Despite Ipswich’s struggle this season, the young attacker has proven himself in the Premier League, and he has established himself as one of the nation’s best young offensive talents.
Chelsea are overreliant on Nicholas Jackson and Palmer for goals. They need more depth on the side and signing another striker is a wise decision. Delap has the quality to play for a big club and he has been able to develop into a reliable performer for Chelsea.
Cole Palmer needs more support
Palmer, meanwhile, is not at his best in recent weeks, with 14 goals in all competitions. He was an outstanding standout for Chelsea last season, and there’s no doubt that he’s a world-class talent. The player recognizes his dip in his form, and he aims to bounce hard.
Chelsea will need more quality in their attacks if they want to fight for a major trophy. If he could sign Dellup in the summer, he could convert their attacking units.
Meanwhile, Manchester United also wants to sign the Ipswich striker. Joshua Zilkie and Rasmus Hozilund are overwhelming and will need to be replaced in the summer. It will be interesting to see if Palmer can help Chelsea beat Manchester United to Ipswich’s striker’s signature.
