Chris Eubank Jr. has filed a rather serious charge against Eddie Hearn.
Eubank first faced Hahn’s fighter Conor Benn in a highly publicized fighter in April, winning an unanimous decision. The two have a bitter history with each other, dating back to their fathers, they faced twice in the 90s title fight. Currently, Eubank and Benn are scheduled to run things at Tottenham Stadium in London on November 15th, and the bad blood between camps appears to have risen.
On Wednesday, the two met for their first press conference before the rematch, and things picked up from where they left off. Eubank attempted to level out some complaints, especially Ben’s team and Hahn, ruining weight loss, disrupting preparations for the fight night by bringing individual archenemies into the changing room, and breaking the fight contract by fighting with gloves filled with horse hair. However, the most tragic accusations from Eubank came after the fight.
“After the fight, due to severe dehydration, I have to be put in an ambulance and go to the hospital,” Ben said. “I’m so dehydrated that one of my toe nails fell. …I was in the ambulance and these scumbags prevented that ambulance from leaving the stadium for 20 minutes.”
“It’s an absolute waffle,” Hearn inserted. “waffle!”
The accusations led to an extended argument between the two, with Hahn repeatedly trying to suspend Eubank.
“Twenty minutes. I was lying there on a gurney, wearing an oxygen mask, the car couldn’t move,” Eubank said. “They won’t open the gates to let us go.”
“Sorry, who won’t open the gate?” asked Hearn.
“If this is the serious injury I’ve sustained now, those 20 minutes could be the difference between life and death,” Eubank continued.
“I want to know who won’t open the gate,” Hearn pressed. “That’s important. You can’t answer that, you talk about shit, Eubank.”
“This is all going on, but Connor Ben and Eddie Hearn are talking to the media here and lying about how I had a broken jaw. That’s why I went to the hospital,” Eubank said. “An absolute best artist.”
“Chris, can you clarify one thing? Can you confirm that you are blaming us? Matchroom?” asked Hearn.
“Why did I stay in the ambulance for 20 minutes?” Eubank replied.
“Tell Matchroom has stopped you from going to the hospital,” Hearn insisted.
“What, can you try to sue me with your little lawyer?” Eubank replied.
“I think you’re talking about the wrong guy. Tell it! You’re going to talk about shit,” replied Hearn.
“These are the level these people go,” continued Eubank.
“Your toenails had fallen, so we stopped you from going. I’ve heard it all now,” Hearn retorted.
The debate didn’t stop there. Eubank and Hearn argued most of the press conferences, but Eubank barely attacked Ben, but instead attacked Hearn.
“The fact in question is that you are the glorious desk jockey,” Eubank said. “It’s that you live from behind the hardworking fighter jets. The fact that you can sit here and talk about how popular and famous you are, shows you the level of ego and narcissism we deal with here.”
“What I don’t want to have is someone to lie about what happened at night and try to get more popular,” replied Hearn. “About your weight cut, about all the bullshit you want to come out. You’re playing the victim! You’re playing the victim, and we can see through you.”
“I won the battle!” Eubank reminded him.
“Well done,” admitted Hearn. “We’ve given you respect. But you accuse us of stopping the ambulance from going to the hospital. We’ll see. You’re an asshole, you talk shit, you get what comes to you.”
