Los Angeles left-handed Clayton Kershaw is approaching 3,000 career strikeouts, a testament to his illustrious tenure with his team.

The magic number for the Car Show is 24 strikeout. The three-time Cy Young winner knows how close he is to reaching the milestone, and will only take part in the other 19 pitchers who have reached the feat.
“Yeah, I’d lie if I didn’t want to,” Kershaw said last week. “But I think the coolest part is the company you’re taking part in. Do you know what I mean? There are some really special names.”
From Don Sutton to Randy Johnson to Pedro Martinez, Kershaw became the 20th pitcher to join an exclusive club.
This season, Kershaw has won a 5.17 ERA with four strikeouts and a 1.660 whip. While it’s an honor to join 3,000 strikeout clubs, the veteran pretty much understands that the season is filled with ups and downs.
“To be honest, I try not to think about it because there seem to be a lot of 30 strikeouts at this rate,” Kershaw said. “There’s a lot of things that could happen, but if I could do that, I would like to be the people I came up with, Schertz and Verlander, and I would also be in that group.”
The Car Show has quite a number of baseball resumes, including 10 All-Star appearances, two World Series rings, MVPs and multiple CY Youngs. But he looks at another achievement in his 18th year.
