Los Angeles starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw reportedly asked manager Dave Roberts about his rescue appearance to help the struggled bullpen.
Kershaw looked at other ways to help the team, as it is likely not going to be one of the ‘ starting options during the three-man wildcard series.
“He’s definitely a realistic option,” Roberts said.
“I think he’s got the rights. He’s open to it. And it’s like where we’re. We need to get the best guy to get out. So if Clayton is viable – and if he’s viable – we just use him.

Roberts continued to say that Kershaw cultivated the idea of taking on the role of the bullpen.
“I think anything should be on the table by covering the innings there,” Roberts said.
Kershaw spent Tuesday’s game against the Arizona Diamondbacks in the bullpen and joined the game from 2019 to make his first relief appearance in Wednesday’s game. He pitched 15 pitches on his way to the perfect innings in his fourth regular season bailout.
The are definitely able to use help in the bullpen as some of their more important works have struggled this month. Blake Trainen and Tanner Scott both were terrible in September, accounting for three blown saves and seven losses.
