With the wildcard rounds beginning Tuesday, the move to keep him away from the roster makes sense.
There was speculation that the car show could come out of the bullpen due to the postseason. It’s more than a welcome option, especially in the recent struggle for relief pitching.
Kershaw performed relief efforts on Wednesday. The fourth regular season bullpen of his illustrious career just came into the scene, pitching scoreless nine innings against Arizona Diamondback on his way to the who hold onto the grips to win in 11 innings. Kershaw spoke about what the idea that he was pitching in October looks like at this point.
“I understand,” Kershaw said. “We see what happens. My job is to sell well. What decisions they make, or whatever I do, what they do, they’re going to make the best decisions for the team. I understand either way. Obviously, making it difficult is what I want to do.”
Kershaw has been working recently to say the least, but everything changes when the regular season begins. Manager Dave Roberts knows better than anyone what this change is like and briefly spoke about what this means to the three-time Cy Young Award winner.
“The bottom line is that I trust him,” Roberts said. “And for me, the postseason is about players you trust.”
The began their journey to become baseball’s first consecutive champions in a quarter century, facing the Cincinnati Reds or the Wild Card Series New York Mets on Tuesday.
