According to Simon Phillips, Chelsea defensive midfielder Enzo Fernandez is reportedly a target for Real Madrid.
Argentina International is too important for the Blues to consider letting go seriously, but Phillips suggests that money is discussing and that it cannot rule out the deal entirely.
Discussing what his sources said to him, Phillips said:
“I would think on the player’s side, like almost every player in the world, it’s a bit of a dream to play for Real Madrid one day, but there’s no point in his dissatisfaction with Chelsea right now or suggestion that he drives the move.”
Enzo Fernandez is not completely essential
He added:
“When I asked the sauce what Chelsea’s response was, they simply answered with a bag of dollar emojis!
“So we’ll make it like you do, but as I say, Chelsea won’t be actively thinking about selling Fernandez this summer, and Champions League football helped keep his content up at the club.
“What my sources suggest is that money speaks and he’s right. If Fernandez gets a big offer, then at least Chelsea will listen.
Should Chelsea sell Enzo Fernandez?
Fernandez got off to a slow start at Stamford Bridge, but he has grown over time and now Chelsea will certainly be hooked on selling the 24 year old.
Still, there is a possibility that the West London giants will be able to bag a lot of money as they let go of Fernandez, but they are still quite strong in the mid-central area.
Enzo Maresca already has Moises Kayseko in that division, but Andrei Santos has returned from Strasbourg’s loan spell.
If Romeo Lavia can put his injury issues behind him, it could be another great option for Chelsea, so they realize they don’t miss out on Fernandez much and can reinvest the money from his sales elsewhere.
