Liverpool star Luis Diaz is reportedly a transfer target for Barcelona who “loves” the player, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano explained that despite Liverpool closing the door on Columbia International’s departure early in this transfer period, Barca will try “100%” again for Diaz.
The Reds would ideally like to keep Diaz in place, but there is still uncertainty about his future as Barcelona shows strong interest in him.
The Catalan giants can do with players on his profile after missing out on Nico Williams, and it appears they are determined not to give up on this potential deal…
“Barcelona already wanted to go to Luis Diaz in Liverpool, so Barcelona loves Luis Diaz. The people at the club loved Luis Diaz. They wanted to go for him.
“It also needs to be mentioned that this is a simple transaction, a fast transaction, not something like that.
“Liverpool has already closed the door to Bayern recently. It was three days before Bayern called out for Louis Diaz. He said Liverpool is not on sale. The players are not going anywhere.
“And when Barcelona made their first approach for Luis Diaz, it was early in the window. In that case, Liverpool had already said no to Barca.”
He added: “But we can also tell you 100% of the time that Barcelona will try. Barcelona will create a new approach and Barcelona will see if this deal will be feasible and possible over the transfer period this summer.”
Diaz shines between at Anfield and it makes sense that he remains an important part of Arne Slot’s plan, but he may also be seduced to show what he can do with an elite European giant like Barcelona.
Is Luis Diaz a good signature from Barcelona?
Diaz finished the 2024/25 season with 17 goals and five assists in all competitions, helping Liverpool win the Premier League title.
His statistics are probably not as impressive as Rafina or Ramin Yamal, but he also offers something a little different on its left side, but he can also play in the centre to provide a cover of the aging Robert Lewandowski…
Diaz is more of a dribbler and a ball carrier than Rafina, and even if he doesn’t necessarily have the exact same final product.
The 28-year-old could be overlooked by Liverpool, even if he already has other options for offense like Mohamed Sarah and Cody Gappo.
They won again win the Premier League title and will not be deep enough to cover the LFC throughout the season as they compete for key honors like the Champions League.
