No. 3 Seed Coco Gauff missed the place in the Miami Open Quarter Final, a tough day for American women, losing to unseeded Magda Lintette 6-4, 6-4 on Monday.
Defending champions Daniel Collins, Amanda Anisimoba and Ashlyn Kruger also headed straight out.
Gouf struggled vigorously with her serve, fucking 12 double faults, taking only half of her first serve.
The South Florida crowd came to life after Gouff advanced 4-3 in two sets, but Lynette held her nerves to secure her first victory over the top three players since 2021.
“It was really important to keep pushing Coco’s serve and making her feel pressured,” Lynette said.
Next for her is Italy’s sixth species, Jasmine Paolini, who defeated Japan’s Naomi osaka 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 early on Monday.
In other women’s results, top seed Aryna Sabalenka crushed 23 winners, including seven aces, and overwhelming 6-4, 6-4 to reach the quarterfinals. There, she meets Qinwen Zheng, who defeated Kruger 6-2, 7-6 (3) in the 16-match round.
Also, world No. 1 Sabalenka becomes a big favorite against Zheng, who has never beat a Belarusian in his previous five career meetings.
Jessica Pegra was left to fly the flag for the American women after clearing Ukraine’s Malta Kostuk 6-2, 6-3 and winning the final six matches of the match.
No. 4 seed Pegra is next facing British Emma Ladukanu after the former US Open champion defeated Anishimova 6-1, 6-3 in hot and humid conditions.
Radukanu did not drop the serve points in the first set against the 17th seed, and sealed the victory by busing her out money at a rally at match points.
This will be the 22-year-old Raducanu’s first Masters 1000 quarterfinals.
“I know it’s going to be a really difficult match, but I think I’m playing pretty good tennis,” Radkanu told the Tennis Channel. “I’m really pleased with how things are going, and more importantly, I enjoy finding a competitive spirit again.”
