Former Los Angeles outfielder Cody Bellinger praised starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw after the veteran announced his retirement at the end of the 2025 season.
Bellinger began his MLB career with and was a teammate of the Car Show from 2017-22.
“He was a big part of that team and all of us,” Bellinger said. “How he carries himself. I sat, looked, learned: This should look like it. When he took the ball every five days, he was there. He was the hardest working man in the room. He had an unparalleled work ethic.”

The outfielder was great with the throughout his first few seasons. Two years later, Bellinger won the MVP in his 47 Homer season. He led the National League with Bwar that season at 8.7, while posting an OPS of 1.035.
Bellinger was part of the World Series winning team in 2020, during which Kershaw took over to cover Bellinger’s offensive struggle. Kershaw pitched twice in the fall classic in the 2020 abbreviated season, allowing only three runs to cross during that stretch, recording 11.2 innings. He made 14 strikeouts on two outings.
However, after a few seasons where he fell below league average, the were a Tenderless Bellinger and were able to sign with the Chicago Cubs in the 2023 season. He enjoyed his backback year in 2023, earning his first MVP vote since winning the award in 2019, continuing to produce at an average level away from LA.

Now with the New York Yankees, Bellinger has a real chance to play against his former team on the biggest stage this postseason, the last dance of his former teammate.
