Liverpool has received two great news in the last 7 days. Mohamed Sarah and Virgil van Dyke have signed a new contract to extend their respective spells at Anfield.
Sarah’s update was announced last week, and Vandik’s decision was officially made on Thursday. A few days after he scored the winning goal in Liverpool’s 2-1 victory over West Ham, this was another step in Arne Slot’s side winning the Premier League.
Sarah and Van Dick are two of Liverpool’s top performers this season, and despite both in their 30s, they clearly wanted them to stay with the club.
Sarah and Vandik’s stay is the perfect news for Liverpool
In an exclusive column on catch-offside, Collymore spoke about her joy at Sarah and Vandik signing a new contract at Liverpool.
“For Liverpool, maintaining the services of Mohamed Sarah and Virgil van Dyke is great, and for me, the money offered is not incurred for my age.
“In Van Dick’s case, he can maintain his natural ability to read games even when slowed down. He just has what many other defenders don’t. And along with Sarah, he hasn’t seen him lose that serious pace in two or three years. Not too far away in the future.
Colliemore also believes it is more important for Liverpool to retain Sarah and Vandic’s services in place of Trent Alexander Arnold, who is set to join Real Madrid as a free agent.
“I think I was doing the cartwheel if last summer, if Liverpool said they would keep Sarah and Vandik but lose Trent Alexander Arnold. I’m sure the supporters would feel the same way. The latter are great players. Szoboszlai and the Alexis Mac Allister.
