Adou Thiero was a draft pick for La Lakers, but there was a reason he fell to them.
La Lakers made two deals during the 2025 NBA draft, starting at 55 and upping the order to number 36.
This allowed them to bring in Adou Tiero, a player that General Manager Rob Perinka described as “first round talent.”
However, there are issues that the Lakers have to deal with. Tiero has been injured and it is now confirmed that he will not play in the Summer League.
ESPN’s Dave McMenamin broadcast an injury update directly from La Lakers.
“Adou Thiero (left knee) is in the final stages of the return process from play. He will not be taking part in Summer League matches, according to the team.
“That’s the same knee injury he handled in Arkansas. Adow is expected to be completely cleaned up for training camp.”
With the Lakers setting the backdrop of a free agency with a rough start that lost Dorian Finney Smith, the update for Adou Thiero is not ideal.
“Really?!? The worst season in history,” one fan wrote on social media.
Another addition: “This isn’t a good feeling. Are you already feeling knee pain?”
The third wrote simply “concern,” while the fourth added, “Shit, that sucks.”
“Well, that’s removing 90% of the excitement from the summer league for me,” another posted.
“We can already see where this season is heading,” another pessimistic fan wrote.
The silver lining from the situation is to make it in time for the regular season, hoping that the Lakers will return Tiero for training camp.
As Thiero is impressed with the preseason and plays a role when the regular season reduces hints, his absence in the summer league is quickly forgotten.
And there’s good news for Lakers fans, with the team agreeing to a deal to sign center DeAndre Ayton.
