Conor McGregor has once again declared his plans to fight again.
The former two-division UFC champion, who has not competed for more than four years since suffering from a horrible broken leg in 2021, says he has prepared for a return to action in the UFC’s anti-doping program. McGregor is looking at the planned UFC event at the White House in 2026 after President Donald Trump announced he wanted to hold a fight there as part of the American 250 celebration.
Since then, UFC CEO Dana White has confirmed that he has begun mapping details for the expected event around July 2026. McGregor is the latest to announce his intention to compete on his historic cards that require drug testing to begin again under UFC rules.
“They’re testing me,” McGregor told SCHMO following a BKFC press conference in Florida. “I’m in the pool, I thought that was what the purpose of the pool was, but I went in and out, but came back into the pool.
Of course, McGregor has previously dropped out of the UFC’s anti-doping program and is back again in 2023, when he was preparing to fight Michael Chandler in 2024.
Active fighters should always be available for drug testing, but McGregor has recovered from his broken leg and has now come out of the program. He eventually rejoined the anti-doping program, where he had to undergo at least six months of drug testing before he was allowed to compete.
McGregor cleared that hurdle, but was then forced to fall out of the scheduled battle with Chandler, suffering from the broken pinky toe in training.
Apparently, McGregor has since decided to drop out of the anti-doping program again.
According to UFC anti-doping records, McGregor had a total of 11 drug tests in 2024, but not tested at all in 2025, so it’s safe to assume he dropped out of the program before the new year. The test records are updated weekly and McGregor’s name is not yet shown, but the fighter is randomly tested so we don’t know when they will actually submit urine or blood samples.
Just like what happened in 2023, McGregor will need to undergo a six-month drug test before competing again, unless the UFC issues some kind of exemption. However, with the White House cards not expected to be played until July 4th, 2026, McGregor has enough time to get the drug tests he needs to compete again.
It’s still not clear whether he’s actually fighting that card.
