Conor McGregor seems to have gotten lost in his gimmick.
Despite missing the octagon for over four years, McGregor remains one of the biggest stars in the UFC. His ability to capture headlines and sell battles is undeniable, but somewhere along the way, McGregor appears to have lost himself.
With millions of dollars and immense fame, McGregor went from infamous performance to “notorious,” and his recent “negotiation” with the US government is another classic example.
“I’m a bit worried about Connor, so I just say that,” Chael Sonnen said of the Irish megastar via his YouTube channel. “The words Connor used are not true. If you ask him for a phone number from the US government, he cannot produce them. For example, this is not reality. But the voice Connor gave a spoofing interview is not Connor’s natural speaking voice either.
“He’s doing more and more interviews with this new voice. People who know him say he’s started answering the phone with this voice. And people say, “Larry, why are you talking like that?” And he says, “I’m always trying to stay in character. Over time, he forgot that this wasn’t his actual voice.”
Conor McGregor is negotiating with the US on a UFC return of perhaps $100 million
For those unfamiliar, McGregor claims he is working directly with the Trump administration to secure a $100 million payday (and not just that) to return to the Octagon for the UFC’s highly anticipated fight night at the White House in 2026.
“I’m not negotiating with the UFC on behalf of myself for this fight like this one, and I’m negotiating with the United States on behalf of Ireland for this fight,” McGregor said. “It’s unique. Trump and the administration have been completely supportive and supportive. I can’t wait to hold the show.”
The dollar may sound completely ridiculous, but McGregor claims he made $100 million for his fight with Floyd Mayweather in 2017, claiming he took $80 million to the bank for a match against Donald “Cowboy” Celone. With that in mind, I don’t think nine figure payday is that crazy about the previous champion champion.
I think you know how Trump will use some of the money he saves by stripping Americans from Medicare.
