Conor McGregor has already plotted the timeline for UFC returns.
It’s been over four years since McGregor stepped into the Octagon. But as he goes his own way, he returns to MMA’s biggest stage next summer, with the promotion offering the much-anticipated fight night card at the White House.
McGregor won the headline last month when he announced he would be competing in a history-making event.
“I’ll be changing into a White House event for eight months,” McGregor told Onwednesday on a media call before the game. “It’s a six-month operation. I think it’s a six-month operation to prepare for this match, and that’s my focus for now. I just want to climb the steps to prepare for the return.
“I was right up to the last one. I was incredibly prepared. A slight progression of concentration led to an injury. I want to fix it and show you what I’m doing.
Conor McGregor Planning Preparing for the “Quarantine Period” UFC Comeback
McGregor was originally scheduled to compete against Michael Chandler at UFC 303 last year. With two fights remaining in the UFC contract, McGregor has already rejoined the drug testing pool and is hoping that Chandler will face him at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
As the co-owner of BKFC, McGregor has remained busy between his octagon and absence, but he understands that if he wants to be successful, he has to put all the distractions aside.
“There’s a period of time to ensure that you’re quarantining where the phone doesn’t answer,” McGregor said. “Everyone involved with me understands it’s coming. Like I said, it’s a six-month surgery. I have no illusion of what’s in front of me in preparation efforts. So the phone goes off and the work is done.”
