Conor McGregor made several announcements at a BKFC Champions Summit press conference on Thursday, signing Conor McGregor to Full Conor McGregor and including the return of Mike Perry.
The King of Violence, which became the face of the promotion, has not competed at BKFC since April 2024, partly due to his involvement in a boxing match with Jake Paul this July. Perry has been waiting worriedly for his next fight ever since, and he eventually got a date on Thursday, but not before McGregor reminded him to the former UFC welterweight that he is in charge of BKFC co-owner.
“I’ve welcomed you, so you’re welcome,” McGregor said. He mentioned it when Perry claimed he was fired from BKFC after losing to Paul. “October 11th is your date and you dance for me, boy. You dance for the owner, then we can speak.”
Before McGregor’s comments, Perry was asked about the possibility of meeting the Irish superstar in the ring, and he clearly welcomed the opportunity.
While McGregor is on his exclusive contract with the UFC, he has repeatedly stated that he wants to ultimately test himself with a naked knuckle ring, and there are no opponents in the sport as big as Perry.
Before he can entertain the possibility, McGregor says Perry will have to pass through his next opponent, the UFC veteran, but the actual name remains a mystery for now.
“Your date is October 11th, Michael Perry, Return of ‘Platinum’ and we have (one) hell for the opponent for you,” McGregor teased. “He’s one of the worst men to adore the ultimate fighting championship, but when it comes to exposed knuckles, he throws him in front of me.
Perry previously said he was interested in fighting former UFC welterweight champion Robbie Lawler, but there is no word as to whether it was a matchup that McGregor was making fun of.
Beyond the interaction between McGregor and Perry, the BKFC has announced the signatures of several new fighter jets, but nothing is bigger than the previous UFC middleweight title Challenger Yoel Romero.
That hybrid combat sports promotion is owned by Perry, but now Romero has joined him on the BKFC roster as the seemingly ageless 48-year-old fighter continues to ignore the odds in all his performances.
Another former UFC title challenger has also signed with BKFC. Thiago Santos is looking for a new start while competing in the battle for naked knuckles.
UFC veterans Derek Branson and Aspen Rudd joined the BKFC roster along with former boxing champion James DeGale.
