Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Chief Falk Ahmed has revealed that the central government has requested him to resign from his position. Falk said the country’s Sports Ministry advised him to resign from his role, but he refused to resign for just more than nine months after taking office.
Faruque Ahmed took over as BCB president on August 21st last year. He faces several serious charges, including poor management of domestic cricket events and economic misconduct. The unfortunate performance of the National Cricket team further undermines his position.

Faruque Ahmed said the sports advisor informed him that he did not want him to continue. However, Faruque emphasized that he has no intention of resigning, adding that he is the president of the board of elected.

“The (sports) advisors haven’t told me to resign, but they have said they don’t want me to continue,” Falk told Espncricinfo. “But I will not resign as I am the elected board president.
Ahmed, along with Nazmul Abedeen Fahim, was elected to the remaining board of the board, following his appointment by the National Sports Council.
On his first day, Falk threatened to eliminate Bangladeshi head coach Chandika Hathursinghe in the Test series in Pakistan. A few months later, Faruque announced the suspension of Hathurusinghe and nominated Phil Simmons as his new coach.
Aminul Islam has emerged as a front runner to replace Faruque Ahmed
Bangladesh’s first Test Centurion, Aminuru Islam, has become a major candidate to replace Falku Ahmed as BCB president. Faruque will have to resign, allowing board directors to select a new chief.
Aminul revealed that the office of sports advisors had recently contacted him and invited him to return to Bangladesh for his role within the BCB. He said he is not planning to stay on the board for a long time, but is motivated by a strong desire to serve the country.
“The (sports) advisor’s office contacted me a few weeks ago and asked me to come to Bangladesh for the role. I agreed to the proposal.
“You may think I’m talking emotionally, but when the country needs soldiers, he doesn’t think about his salary or his self-interest. Serving the country is a top priority. I have the same mentality.
The ICC door is open for me – Aminul Islam
Aminul Islam, who is currently working with the ICC in Melbourne, has revealed that he has notified the ICC of the offer. He added that the ICC agreed to him second and second for several months to the BCB, ensuring he could return to his position.
“They agreed and said the ICC door is open for me. After finishing my role at BCB, I can go back to ICC,” Aminul said.
Aminul was Bangladesh’s first Test Centurion, winning 145 against India in his debut test in Dhaka in 2000. He also appeared on the national side at the 1999 World Cup. The cricketers played 13 Test matches and 39 ODIs.
