Chael Sonnen is confident that Jon Jones vs. Tom Aspinall will occur in 2025. Unfortunately, “American Gangster” has a hard time trying to convince UFC fans.
From the moment Aspinall won the interim heavyweight title via Sergei Pavlovich’s 69-second knockout at UFC 295, Jones has denial of Britt. Eighteen months later, “Bones” have changed little by little by regularly taunting social media fans. Social media was unhappy with the consensus goat’s decision to keep an entire department known to stroke his own ego and troll people who help him praise him.
It’s so unruly available that Change.org petition asking Dana White to strip Jon Jones of his heavyweight strap is over 150,000 signatures.
Sonnen is confident that John Jones will fight Aspinel in the next six months
However, despite all the drama and continued flip-flops on Jones’ subject matter, White argues that Jones vs Aspinel will happen in 2025, and Sonnen tends to believe him.
“Tom Aspinall is different,” Sonnen said in an interview with Mac Life. “He’s a special animal. He looks like the way you want to see your world champion. Aspinel is different. 100%. And I believe John Jones vs. Tom Aspinel will happen this year.
This is an interesting view from Sonnen, who recently suggested that interest in Jones vs. Aspinel is being rapidly cooled.
Aspinall became the longest interim champion in UFC history on April 29th, winning the 535-day temporary heavyweight title. And the clock is still running.
