Conor McGregor and Donald Trump were able to team up in 2026.
President Trump announced Thursday at a rally in Iowa that he plans to host the UFC battle for the July 4th Independence Day celebration, which marks the 250th anniversary of the United States’ declaration of independence.
No further details were given, but that did not stop social media from speculating about what such events would entail. He also mentioned interest in the fact that several fighters are part of the festival, including UFC star Conor McGregor.
“I’m honoured,” McGregor wrote on Twitter. “Counter me.”
McGregor also teased the much-anticipated matchup with Michael Chandler.
Naturally, Chandler agrees with the idea. He and McGregor were against the coach Ultimate Fighter 31 And although he was actually scheduled to compete in UFC 303 in June 2024, McGregor withdrew from the match due to a broken toe.

“Who fantasizes the good old, passionate red, white and blue butt wooping on the White House grass?” Chandler wrote in a story post on Instagram.
McGregor has visited the White House previously. Last March, the former two-division UFC champion was a guest on 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue and even had the opportunity to talk to the media about his own political aspirations in Ireland. Prior to that visit, Trump praised McGregor in a conversation with Ireland’s Taojeech Michelle Martin.
Like everything about McGregor, it is unclear how serious the “notorious” is for being reserved on speculative cards. He will turn 38 next July and has not competed since July 2021 when he broke his leg at UFC 264. McGregor is currently involved in two separate civil suits accused of sexual assault, and concludes that one case is already liable (his team tried to sue the verdict, but the evidence presented by McGregor’s team is currently under investigation).
Despite his reputation for decline, McGregor would definitely bring star power to the White House event if it actually happens. And he is not the only fighter plane that was intrigued.

I’ve heard that Trump is planning to fight the UFC in the White House. I want to KO someone on the grounds of the American capital in the name of independence
