Former Indian cricketer Akash Chopra has denounced the media outlet for publishing an unverified report on Riyan Parag after the IPL 2025 collision between the Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Kolkata Knight Rider (KKR) in Guwahati. Chopra was disappointed by the increased frequency of pitch intrusions.
IPL 2025 witnessed a second security violation when fans ran to the field to meet Rajasthan Royals’ all-round riyanparag at Barça Para Cricket Stadium in Guwahati on Wednesday, March 26th.
Aakash Chopra criticizes the “new low” in journalism over Riyan Parag’s story
The media outlet made a shocking claim that Riyan Parag had paid £10,000 fans to raid the field and touch his feet. Aakash Chopra used X to criticize the publication and shared screenshots of the article.
Chopra pointed out that the headline was sensational, but the report provided no evidence to support the allegations. He emphasized that such misleading content comes from mainstream media houses.
“I came across this article… the headline is clearly explosive. But there’s nothing in the article about how they understood that Liyan paid his fans to touch his feet. There’s nothing. In the world of clickbait journalism, this is a new, low media,” Chopra wrote.
If this continues to happen, cricket isn’t too far…- Aakash Chopra
Fans asked Aakash Chopra about the increased frequency of pitch intrusions during IPLs. This highlights security concerns.
In response to the query, Chopra condemned the incident. He warned that if such a violation continues, cricket could face a tragic moment similar to the infamous attack on tennis star Monica Ceres.
“Yeah, yes, this has to stop. If this continues to happen, cricket is not far from the “Monica Ceres” moment. You should take it seriously,” Chopra replied.

Security violations are becoming more and more frequent in both international cricket and the Indian Premier League. A similar incident occurred during the IPL 2025 opener between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).
Rajasthan Royals suffer from back-to-back defeats at IPL 2025
Rajasthan Royals have endured the tough start of their IPL 2025 campaign. They suffered consecutive losses against Sunrise’s Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders. Despite admitting 286 runs against SRH, the first IPL champion had a complimentary battle with the bat before losing by 44 runs.
However, their batting lineup faced Kolkata Knight Riders. They only posted modest totals, with Dhruv Jurel posting as the top scorer for 33 runs. Riyan Parag manages just 29 runs on bats on two outings, raising concerns about whether leadership responsibility is affecting his performance.
The Rajasthan Royals aim to bounce off their poor start when they face Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Guwahati on Sunday, March 30th.
