Cristiano Ronaldo may have won almost everything to win the game, but at 40 he is clearly still hungry.
The al-Nassl forward was full of emotion after Portugal defeated Spain in a penalty in the international league final, and then yesterday gave him another trophy to add to his collection.
Ronaldo has won the Champions League five times. He also won individual honors such as multiple league titles, European Championships and Ballon d’Or.
In comparison, the Nations League isn’t that honorable, but you can see how much it means to Ronaldo when last night’s victory was confirmed…
Cristiano Ronaldo continues to win
Ronaldo, even at the age of 40, shows no signs of slowing down as he scored for Portugal against Spain in a 2-2 draw last night.
The former Manchester United and Real Madrid man sets his sights as he is finally about to win one major trophy that has escaped him in his career, aiming for next year’s World Cup.
Many would have thought that Ronaldo ended at this level when he struggled towards the end of his second spell with Man UTD, but that’s clearly not the case.
Ronaldo is currently winning another major trophy with Portugal and should once again become a key player in his country at the World Cup next summer.
Can Portugal win the World Cup?
Ronaldo is not the only star player on this Portuguese team, so winning the World Cup allowed him to take a decent shot.
Bruno Fernandez and Bernardo Silva are two other world-class players with extensive experience, but also have promising talents like Nuno Mendes, Vicinha and Joan Neves.
And despite his critics, manager Roberto Martinez has just won a trophy for them, so they can have what they need to head straight with more of the best teams in the US next year.
