UFC interim heavyweight champion Tom Aspinol tested himself in the world of CrossFit.
Aspinall continues to march (hopefully) towards a unified clash with heavyweight title holder Jon Jones later this year, but beloved Britt is busy at the gym and is testing himself in new ways. Recently, Aspinall received his first CrossFit training and provided insight into how it compares to his rigorous MMA training regimen.
“It was tough…it’s good, I enjoyed it,” Aspinall said on his YouTube channel.
“I think there are still some crossfitters to make it look easy, but honestly, it doesn’t resemble my MMA style. I’m constantly pushing and pushing.
Tom Aspinoll teases “Big News” about the much-anticipated title tilt with John Jones
It’s been 18 months since Aspinall returned to the UK for his interim heavyweight title with a 69-second KO at Sergei Pavlovich. Since then, he has been lobbying hard for a clash with John Jones, the top dog in the division.
Unfortunately, “Bones” is happy to limp by booking a meet-up. First, Jones insisted on the fight for Stipe Miocic in a heavyweight title fight that would stop the entire division. Five months after he took Miocic to his hands, Jones has been sincerely continuing on about his potential encounter with Aspinall.
With fans getting frustrated, Aspinall tried to quell some of the concerns during his recent appearance on the Ariel Hellwani Show, holding a productive meeting with UFC officials, revealing that “Big News” should be released soon.
“We had a lovely meal and we talked about everything,” Aspinel told Herwani. “(UFC CBO) Hunter (Campbell) has always been very personality and rational with me. I can’t say what he’s like with other people.
“We had a great meeting. Everything is amazing and I understand my position now. I understand what the company is doing now. You are my friend. My friend.
