Crystal Palace are keen to sign the “insane” centre-back who once plucked Erling Haaland, and it has now been revealed he wants to leave the club in 2026.
Parish reveals why Guehi’s move to Liverpool failed
Palace were expected to sell Marc Guehi during the summer transfer window as it was their last chance to secure a big-money move, but the move fell through on deadline day and manager Steve Parish recently revealed why he did not approve the move.
The chairman said: “In the end, based on the advice I received and my own thoughts, I decided that we would have a better season if we kept Marc.
“If we were fighting for 10th and 14th place and that was the difference between keeping Marc and letting him go, we probably would have said correctly, ‘We should take the money.’
However, the Eagles, who are still in charge of captaincy, are sixth in the Premier League table despite losing just one of their opening seven games and are showing signs of being able to secure a spot in Europe this season.
However, Crystal Palace cannot prevent the 25-year-old from leaving on a free transfer next summer, meaning signing a new centre-back will be one of their most important priorities, and they are keen to sign Inter Milan’s Jan Bisek.
This comes as a report from SportsBild (via Sport Witness) reveals that the German wants to leave when the January transfer window opens, amid fears he will miss out on next summer’s World Cup squad.
The 24-year-old has failed to impress at Inter this season and has fallen down the pecking order, meaning the Italian club could allow him to leave for between €20m and €25m (£17m to £22m).
“Commander” Bisek, who once took Haaland into his arms
Despite Inter’s struggles so far this season, the former Germany international was praised by manager Ben Mattinson last season and scouts have been particularly impressed with his ball-handling and could be a viable replacement for Guehi.
Inter’s defender has been among his best in the Champions League in the past, keeping Haaland quiet in the 0-0 draw at the Etihad Stadium last season, during which the Norwegian was limited to just one shot on target and an xG of 0.33.
Visek has plenty of experience at the top level, making 13 appearances for Inter last season before being eliminated in the final, suggesting he could be a great signing for Crystal Palace.
