Mark Guech’s future has another twist, suggesting that Crystal Palace will consider allowing England defenders to join Liverpool if Joe Gomez moves in the opposite direction on loan for the season.
According to the BBC, the palace is considering the idea of requesting Gomez as part of the package.
Liverpool is determined to increase their defensive options before the windows close and consider Guehi as their best target. According to some reports, the Reds have already submitted a bid of £35 million.
The Palace responded by asking for an improved package that includes an additional £5 million add-on and a 10% sell-on clause.
Crystal Palace hopes to offload Mark Guech this summer
Guehi, 25, only has one year left on his contract. This means Palace Risk will lose him for free in 2026 if no sales are agreed.
Guehi reportedly agreed to personal terms with Liverpool, and the club forced the final agreement to break.
The Palace’s interest in Gomez comes when the defenders struggle regularly at Anfield. The 28-year-old has played just 18 minutes this season, coming with a 4-2 opening day victory over Bournemouth in Liverpool, but remains unused against Newcastle United.
Liverpool is reluctant to use Gomez as a make-up class. Arne Slot still values his experience and leadership and prefers to build Guehi’s straight cash deals.
Guehi’s future is still on balance
At the same time, the palace is focusing on reinforcements elsewhere. They explored the possibility of signing Manuel Akanji from Manchester City, but Swiss International is not convinced about the move to Selhurst Park.
This uncertainty further complicates Guehi’s potential departure, as the palace doesn’t want to weaken the backline without a reliable alternative.
With Guehi’s deal ticking through the minute and Liverpool pushing hard, the next few days could prove decisive.
