Crystal Palace has been considering improving its defense forces this summer, identifying Maxim Estev as a target.
The Eagles will need to branch out the club’s record fees to sign a Burnley defender. The 23-year-old joined Burnley for a fee of around £12.5 million, but he has stood out for them so far.
The French defender was one of the best defenders in last season’s championship, and Burnley rarely leaves him easily. According to Football Insider, Crystal Palace is keen on the players, and Burnley cherishes him for £50 million.
It is still unclear whether Crystal Palace is willing to pay players such money.
The most esteve replacing Guehi?
If they want to do well next year, they need to tighten up defensively. They are likely to lose Mark Guech during the summer transfer period, and Estev will be a quality alternative.
The 23-year-old was selected for the championship team of the season last season after helping Burnley maintain a clean sheet of 30.
The opportunity to move into the Premier League is extremely exciting for him. Crystal Palace is a big club with ambitious projects. They won the FA Cup last season and secured European football for their upcoming campaigns. It makes them an attractive destination for players.
It will be interesting to see if they can convince Burnley to accept the more reasonable fees of the defender.
Marc Guehi has set it up to go ahead
Meanwhile, Guehi is looking for new challenges, and he is in the final year of his contract. He links to multiple English clubs and it is still unclear where he will end. He is an essential asset to Crystal Palace and they need to properly replace him.
As for Burnley, they have secured promotion to the Premier League and they will want to hold the best players. Unless an absurd amount is provided, it is rare to sanction the departure of key players like Estev.
