Dangelo Russell begins a new chapter in his career with the Dallas Mavericks.

Following the turbulent 2024-25 NBA season between the Los Angeles Lakers and Brooklyn Net, Dangelo Russell will wear a Dallas Mavericks jersey.

Ahead of his 11th year in the NBA, Russell shared a statement that made the Mavericks fanbase happy about their debut season with the team.

At this point in his career, D’Lo experienced the best and worst of playing in the NBA. Clearly, he has identified his biggest strengths in the courts.

With that in mind, Russell recently explained why he plays well for the Mavericks by appearing to be filming former head coach JJ Redick.

“I think guys like me are plugged into a system like this. Not all teams have coaches playing, not having credibility with teams that don’t include me,” Russell said in Locked in Mavs.

He added: “I had limited structure in my career, so I like my odds to plug me into young people from veterans, coaches, things like that, so you can see.”

“I’ve had limited structure in my career… to plug me into something like that, to get a complete structure from young people, from coaches, from veterans.

While there’s no doubt Russell praised Jason Kidd and the Mavericks, he certainly delved into his previous organization subtly.

Last season, Russell played in 58 games, averaging 12.6 points, 2.8 rebounds and 5.1 assists in 5.1 games, 39.0% from the field.

Assuming he corrected his shooting rates, Russell could be one of MAVS’ most exciting players next season.

In fact, as Kyrie Irving went on the sidelines to start the season, D’Lo was shot to impress Coach Kidd and earn his first few minutes as point guard.

As far as his arrival goes, even Klay Thompson has stoked a huge admiration for Russell ahead of the 2025-26 NBA season.
