Leeds United’s bid for automatic promotion suffered another setback as Luton Town, Kenilworth Road, got caught up in a 1-1 draw. This is the result of further complicating the path to the Premier League.
The points dropped were frustrating enough, but the spotlight quickly moved on to Joel Pillow’s disappointing outing.
The white guy, who sat at the top of the championship a while ago, fell to third place and won only one win in his final six games.
With only six games left, their promotions are now under severe pressure.
Pillow’s performance on Saturday summed up Leeds’ recent struggle. The Dutch were ineffective in the attack and looked down on the pace from the start.
He was unable to complete a single dribble, winning only one of his 17 duels, and despite his physical height, he failed all eight airborne challenges.
It is clear why adding four confiscated times and multiple false passes is increasing.
Daniel Fark wasn’t happy with the pillow
One particularly moment brought me to an angry response from Fark. Piroe fell into the middle and received a simple pass from Pascal Struijk, but put pressure on his back and straightened out of play for his first layoff for junior Firpo.
Miss caused Luton to be thrown in, prompting a visibly and frustrating response from bystander Fark.
LUTV commentator Brian Law reported on the manager’s visible complaints about the players. He said:
“Struijk, a straight ball to Piroe, but that doesn’t work. It’s off Piroe and out. It’s a throw-in for Luton and Daniel Fark below isn’t totally happy.”
This latest match marked six games without Piroe’s goal contribution. Despite having 15 goals and six assists in 40 games this season, his form has been immersed in a critical period.
When Leeds fight to regain the top two spots, they need more from their offensive core.
If Leeds revives a promotional push, their key players, including Piroe, must reach under pressure.
