Former LA Lakers champion Danny Greene gave his views on the franchise’s hopes of short-term success.

Partnerships LeBron James and Luka Donsic were on display in the first few weeks after the Slovenians’ hit trade.

The La Lakers were given a real-life dosage when a biased roster was taken out of range in the NBA playoffs. They were beaten in the first round by the Minnesota Timber Wolves in five games.

General Manager Rob Perinka has pledged to strengthen his roster for next season as he attempts to rebuild the axis of LeBron James and Luca Donsic.

Former NBA star Danny Green doesn’t think the La Lakers will win the title alongside LeBron James and Luka Donsic.

Green is a former teammate of LeBron and admits that the superstar has dissented his expectations in the past, but he believes that winning the title at his age is too much to ask.

“No, I don’t think so,” he replied.

“I think it’s really hard for him to win the championship when he’s gone for years, LeBron and your best player when he’s 40.

“He’s really good, but no matter what, he’s 40. You can’t ask him to do it on either end of the floor, and it’s just like Luka.”

Danny Green believes they will not compete seriously for the championship until the La Lakers are able to fill an Anthony Davis-sized hole in his roster.

Davis will be replaced in a package for Luka Donsic and the Lakers will have to try and replace him this offseason.

Green said: “No one can help clean or hide the mess, and it’s hard to find another guy to replace that rim protection and the threat of that lob.

“In the end, when he’s finished, I think he’ll replace Bron, so now I think we can build around Luka.

“So it’s good to be long term. I don’t think I’ll be able to win next year.

“I don’t know what they’re going to do. LeBron will be 41 years old.

“He can average 30, 20 things, but I haven’t seen them win a championship in that formula right now.”
