Clayton Kershaw is considered by many as a regular season pitcher and a postseason pitcher.
From a number perspective, it can be argued that the Carshow is one of the best regular season pitchers in the history of the sport. Several advanced analyses, from his records to strikeout rates and ERAs, support what it strongly argues.

Unfair or not, Carshaw has a reputational fight in the playoffs. Over his career, Kershaw has a 4.49 ERA in 22 postseason series dating back to 2008. His record is 13-13 during this period.
“Choker” Monica may be a bit exaggerated when she digs deeper into her future Hall of Fame work. In the 194.1 postseason innings, Kershaw only allowed 165 hits along with 213 strikeouts. He was a perfect team player in terms of pitching in every role he was asked.
This is where Carshow travels to the present day, where it becomes curious gurty to include on the upcoming postseason roster.
In 2019, the Car Show was amazing. He’s 10-2 with a 3.53 ERA heading for the start on Friday evening. The Texas native is stunning at keeping the batters out of balance with a series of off-speed pitches and excellent booting commands.
In a wildcard situation in the 3 game, the recognized starters could be Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Shohei ohtani, and Blake Snell. Tyler Glasnow is probably the next line to start the game. Where does this leave the car show?
Dave Roberts said he “feels “the (car show) spot (car show) role” on his postseason roster. Given the unique parameters of the short series, even the depth of the starter and long relief requires a high leverage arm.
In theory, Kershaw could be a nice foil throwing one or two innings from the left side while being pinched between the far more hard-hitting right wing. His experience is authentic, as is the leadership and competitiveness he brings to the mound every time he step into the field.
It will be very interesting to see how he moves forward. Given his season and pedigree, it seems even more stupid while keeping him off the wildcard roster, but there’s some point in stacking up more true bailouts.
