Entering the 2025 season, the Los Angeles had no Tony Gonsorin since August 18, 2023.
His return to the show was even later as the 2022 All-Star was preparing for his comeback year, as he continued back injuries during spring training. After making his season debut at the end of April, Gonsorin has started three times, and according to manager Dave Roberts, the right-hander looks like his familiar self.

“I think what he’s doing now is a sign of 2022. You also have seasoned guy experience, Roberts said.
Gonsorin has shown off a 2.81 ERA in 16 innings and has four walks with 21 strikeouts.
His latest start, with just four days of rest, consisted of five scoreless innings, three hits and a season-high 84 pitches.
“I was really impressed,” Roberts said of Gonzolin’s outing Sunday. “I think the first pitch strike is huge. He’s under attack. He hits splits and makes it shorter. He can use sliders, curveballs. He has a legitimate four-pitch mix.
“A big lift for us.”
Gonsorin’s fastest pitch was 95.9 mph during his last outing, with his average 4-seamer speed totaling 93.5 mph. This made batters shaking on 29 of 29 of 84 pitches on Sunday, making it the category in the 98th percentile of active pitchers with seven Whiffs.
The 30-year-old spoke about the inexplicable batsman, but it also made sense to play quality innings and increase the pitch count as the season progressed.
“I can do that, as these last three starts showed,” Gonsorin said. “You can make mistakes when you need it. You’re missing out on going deeper into the game, so I hope you can get one of them right away.”
