Los Angeles utility man Quique Hernandez landed on the list earlier this week when injured with inflammation in his left elbow. Hernandez revealed he had been dealing with the injury for over a month, but manager Dave Roberts was unaware of the 33-year-old’s ongoing elbow problems.

“At that point, he kept it to himself,” Roberts said. “He just wanted to be there for the competition, and it continued to get worse, and it really affected his offense and swing. And just a few days ago, it really reached a head that couldn’t stand it.”
Hernandez received a cortisone injection due to pain after MRI, revealing inflammation in her left elbow. According to the skipper, fan favorites are expected to return “right after the All-Star break.”
Hernandez has hit .195 on eight home runs, with 22 runs hit and has been hit with an OPS of .626 this season. Roberts has recently highlighted the importance of Hernandez finding success against his left-handed pitcher season, but he has not yet consistently produced on the plate this year.
The plan to use Hernandez as a backup triple base hand, with Max Muncie riding on the IL with a bone bruise in his left knee.
Hernandez and Miguel Rojas were to split the start at the hot corner against left-handed pitching. But as Hernandez stands on the sidelines, Rojas will likely have Tommy Edman shifted to the right to get a start in third place.
