The Los Angeles have a collection of talented pitchers shelved on the injured list, but one of the most effective relievers of last season has been updated in his recovery.
Last season, Evan Phillips made 63 strikeouts with just 17 walks over 54.2 innings, leading the with saves at 18 and stepped up as a semi-closer. After allowing just three hits in October 6.2 innings, Phillips helped the beat the National League pennant, but was closed in the fall classic due to the tears of the rotor cuff.

Phillips recovered during the offseason and rejoined the team at the end of April. After seven appearances, elbow inflammation was the reason Phillips returned to the list where he was injured on May 7th.
Manager Dave Roberts spoke about his rescuer’s injuries and lack of progress in the timeline.
“That’s starting to be a bit of a concern,” Roberts said. “I don’t know how much time I can give him until he tries to start catching again. I’m a little worried, but I hope for the best.”
Phillips was originally on the list of injured due to discomfort in his forearm in early May, but MRI later revealed that the root of the problem was inflammation of his elbow. No structural damage was found.
Once Phillips is cleared to resume catches, the photos begin to become more clear for the rescuers and they can begin plans to return to the mound.
Phillips is one of Illinois’ 14 pitchers, a key part of the bullpen, and feels his absence. In his handful of games in 2025, Phillips had not yet allowed a run, so he walked two six strikeouts in 5.2 innings.
