This proves to be extremely effective against the Phillies as both the starters in Games 2 and 3 become southpaws. Their Game 1 victory also featured a left-handed starter on the mound at Christopher Sanchez.
As Roberts said, Kim can also provide relief in the defense, particularly with regard to Tommy Edman. The 2024 NLCS MVP has been dealing with persistent ankle injuries since May, but is also a staple food for the infield and outfield. Luckily, Kim is more than he can take over defensively if Edman needs a temporary or long-term alternative.
