Los Angeles manager Dave Roberts revealed that he is trying to find a reliable bailout in high leverage situations during the postseason.
The ‘ bullpen has been rather inconsistent recently, and the have lost several games towards the end of the regular season due to a mistake from the relief arm.

“Yeah, I think – you like them all and you trust them all to varying degrees,” Roberts said. “And I think in the postseason, I have to ultimately go with someone who feels the best in that one place.
“And it’s constantly evolving, and I can’t blind performance or heartbeat.
“It’s like a daily conversation with a pitching coach, the front office and, just sort of, and most importantly, what I see.”
There were few high-leverage spots against the Cincinnati Reds, where the placed their seats in the NL Wildcard series, but each game still had some issues, allowing the Reds to load their bases in the second half.

Outside of these occasions, the ‘ pen looked solid in the final innings of each game. Blake Trainen bounced back from the horrifying final month of the regular season, giving the a scoreless nine innings in the opening game.
The will get two days of rest before an NLDS matchup with the Philadelphia Phillies, which begins on the road on Saturday. Shohei Ohtani starts his first postseason against Phils and hopes that the bullpen can shake off their struggle to give him a huge advantage in the series.
