Another domino fell to help the Los Angeles begin spinning as right-handed pitcher Tony Gonzolin was placed on the list injured with discomfort in his right elbow.
More news: What will the ‘ rotation look like after Tony Gonsorin’s injury?
There are concerns about the pitcher’s elbow injury, but that’s certainly more surprising as Gonsorin is back from Tommy John’s surgery.
“Yes,” manager Dave Roberts admitted Saturday. “So I think we wanted to make sure we were careful and take him offline. We don’t want to move on with it until we get a scan.”
On Sunday, Roberts offered a hopeful update for the 31-year-old, revealing that Gonzolin’s right pitching UCL remains intact.
“Obviously, when I had an elbow discomfort, I used my pitcher to not see him get the next start. So, considering where the pitching was, it looked logical. “Hopefully, the pain, the discomfort will subside and I’ll throw him again and let him see where he’s going.”
Gonsorin’s journey wasn’t easy as he missed nearly 20 months after undergoing Tommy John’s surgery in 2023.
The right-hander entered spring camp as one of three starting pitchers competing for the fifth spot in the rotation. Gonsorin liked to be the ‘ No. 5 starter, but he suffered a back injury after missing the first month of the 2025 season.
Now I’ve noticed that Gonsorin has returned to IL with an elbow injury. However, the latest updates are a good for right-handed people.
