The lost a very win-win game to the Colorado Rockies on Monday due to a walk-off single.

Manager Dave Roberts did not write words after the loss.
“We should have won that game, certainly in the way he (Yamamoto) pitched,” Roberts said. “This was hard to put into words.”
“We don’t make adjustments. We don’t shorten them. We don’t try to move the ball forward. That’s an adjustment,” added Roberts. “Especially with scoring runners, you have to make adjustments and shorten them and find a way to move them forward – you give yourself a chance.
“You need to make adjustments. If not, you have a double digit punch (strikeout), and you can get better than that.
The had numerous defensive mistakes on Tuesday, preventing them from getting the game cleaned up.
After Rockies’ third baseman Kyle Karos walked off to kick off three innings, right fielder Tescal Hernandez made a bad jump with a 69 mph ball hit by center fielder Brenton Doyle. Hernandez’s choice to throw at 3 base in an attempt to stop Karos is insufficient, so he managed to reach 2 bases on a single.

What took was a single from the next batter to bring both runners home.
Additionally, Hernández was unable to catch a Bloop Hit in nine innings, which ultimately led to a walk-off victory. It was a tough play, but what pushed the game into innings was that if it had been made, we could add innings.
“It was one of the things you had to play with. I didn’t,” Hernandez said. “I reached the ball, I got the ball, but it came out of my gloves.”
These mistakes are costly at any point in the season, but with October approaching and two games with a shrinking split lead, the have to clean up the smallest things to continue their reign in the NL West.
