Blake Snell missed the scheduled bullpen session on Wednesday.
The Los Angeles decided to close Snell’s throw after throwing their shoulders on Tuesday. Snell’s shoulder will be reconsidered when the return from Chicago to Los Angeles on Thursday or Friday.

“(Snell) didn’t feel good because he was playing catch,” manager Dave Roberts said about the reason for Snell’s shutdown. “So now we’ll slow down the throw and maybe have it checked again when we get home.”
Roberts emphasized that the organization prioritizes the postseason to manage Snell’s injuries. The will prefer to postpone bullpen sessions to risk exacerbating discomfort early in the season.
Despite the organization’s attention from Snell’s recovery, Roberts said he was not concerned about the injury.
“I wouldn’t be concerned,” Roberts said. “It’s the second half of the season, as some of our message to Blake is. And if you have any type of discomfort, don’t try to fight through it.”
“So, considering where we are on the calendar right now, I say this a lot, but I’m not worried at all,” added Roberts.
Los Angeles acquired Snell at the end of November and signed a five-year, $182 million contract to two Cy Young Award winners.
However, Snell has only started twice since joining Los Angeles this season. He was 1-0 and allowed 10 hits and seven runs in nine innings (only two have been won) while recording a 2.00 ERA.
The then placed Snell on the list of 15 days of injury on April 6th with inflammation in his left shoulder. He pitched against the Detroit Tigers on opening day, but hasn’t appeared on the mound since April 2nd.
Snell is one of 12 Los Angeles pitchers in the 15- or 60-day IL. Starting pitcher Tyler Grasnow deals with convulsions in his latest start, but I don’t think he’ll miss the time.
Roberts initially said Snell could return to the mound later this week. However, it is unclear when the Southpaw will return as he keeps another set off on the sidelines.
