The (16-8) are out of a fierce loss in a 11-10 inning to the Cubs in Chicago. Starter Dustin May was tagged for seven runs acquired. Closer Tanner Scott is once again uneven. He gave up on a home run that will hold the game with two outs in the nine innings. Mercenary Arm Noah Davis gave up a walk-off hit to Ian Hap to finish the game.
Though things are far from miserable, there are still plenty of bullpen arms now (Michael Kopech, Brasdahl Gratel, Blake Torinen) and several starting pitchers (Clayton Kershaw, Tony Gonzolin, Shohai Otani) going back.
It’s not named after the Chicago Series finale on Wednesday evening as the team plans a bullpen game. That being said, manager Dave Roberts spoke to the media after the game, making it sound like someone was coming in.
“There could be some potentially pending movement of some length,” Roberts said. “But I’m going to talk to the pitchers right now and get a sense of where we are.”
Those who provide the estimated length of their arm can at worst be able to do multiple innings, whether they are true starting pitchers or long saviors.
Anyone called out, Roberts and the hope to be able to offer some quality innings to give the tax bullpen a little rest already.
The have an off-day on Thursday, so it’s probably the deck that will get away with victory in the series finale on Wednesday.
