The Los Angeles have not had both catchers over the past week, worrying about the upcoming postseason.
All-Starbuckstop Will Smith was placed in IL on September 13 (retrospectively until September 10) after removing the foul ball from his hand on September 3, and rookie catcher Dalton hit the list injured in Right Singh’s contempt last week, but was recalled on Tuesday.
Manager Dave Roberts spoke about the recovery as Smith is eligible to be revitalized from IL on Saturday.

“There may be one-handed swings. I don’t know if he’ll use his top hand,” Roberts said. “As for the slow, I don’t know about that. That’s a daily thing.”
As for possible activations, Roberts believes that Smith will depend on where he is in the rehabilitation process.
“I think as the day approaches, it’s going to be a condition for what he’s doing,” Roberts said. “If he’s been away from potential revitalization for two days, if he’s taking his life (live batting practice), that’s plausible, right? If he’s not (Saturday).
“I hope every day works.”
Roberts also reported that Smith still caught the bullpen session and was “trying to keep him moving.” There is no clear picture of when fans can expect to see the All Starbuck behind the plate without throwing or hitting it completely.
In Smith’s final 20 games this season, he’s hitting .210 with .726 OPS. His production is heading downwards, but there is no doubt that he is the best option for LA coming in October.
In the meantime, Ben Rothveda has been holding back that and doing an incredible job. With 11 appearances on Blue, Rortvedt has reached .286/.375/.357 with .732 OPS. He also brings huge value defensively and his above average framing ability.
As October approaches, all Smith can do is focus on his health before the regular season begins and return to the lineup.
