David Adelman was praising one versatile Denver Nuggets star for reinventing himself once again.
The Denver Nuggets have done a great job rebuilding their roster this offseason. Nikola Djokic has the tools to help them compete for the NBA championship at last.
The Nuggets have created the best free agency and signed players like Bruce Brown and Tim Hardaway Jr. in team-friendly deals.
They also made several important transactions, including securing landing Cam Johnson from Brooklyn Net and Jonas Balanciuna as a backup centre.
Johnson may be the Nuggets’ most exciting star, but he has the long-standing fixtures from their team that have earned David Adelman’s respect.
David Adelman spoke with reporters in the first practice of the Denver Nuggets’ preseason, after his first practice on his new roster and what he expects from them.
When discussing Aaron Gordon, he praised the versatility of the forwards on both ends of the floor and how the team can adapt to any role he needs to play.
“That won’t surprise me. Aaron always looks like clay. He turns into what you need every year.
“He has to become a lead ball handler. He’s the guy who posts posts, plays split games, cuts, get the ball and shoots someone else.
“Defensively, that’s the same idea. You guys saw him. He’s defending Luka, Trae Young, and all sorts of players, and even centers in the playoffs.
“What I expect from Aaron is what I see every year. Anything that takes to have the best possible season.”
The Denver Nuggets made all these moves in the offseason to participate in the NBA Championship. The playoff failures of the past two seasons have left a bad taste in the mouth.
Nikola Dzokic will be a strong competitor for the Serbian superstar to win the MVP award once again, continuing to play at the highest possible level.
Jokic’s play was never an issue. Rather, it was that the pieces around him failed to deliver at the level they needed to compete.
Hopefully with this new roster, the Nuggets can return to their best and push the Western Conference side to the limits of next season.
