David Onama extended his unbeaten streak to four with a solid show against the ever-risking Giga Chikadze at UFC Kansas City on Saturday night.
Chikaze used his footwork and fast lightning kicks to keep the onamas at bay for most of the opening round. However, Ontama led to the best strike of the round, locking up Chicazetze with his nasty right hand, who had a Georgian style back pedal.
Within a minute to go to the round, Chikadze gave Onama his receipt and landed his own right hand. Once onama retreated, Chikaze moved in search of a kill, which caused Onama to clinch up and score a slow takedown, finishing the round up.
Perhaps realizing how easy it is to defeat Chikaze, Onama does just that in the second stanza, bringing Chikaze back to the mat and keeping control over most of the round.
In the third round, Chikaze and Onama returned to slug it out. Onama landed a nice left hand to get things started, but it was Chikaze who seemed more aggressive among the two fighters. When the fight was left for a few minutes, Ontama shot for a takedown and dragged Chikaze easily to the mat. Along his way, it appeared there was a head collision between the two, but it didn’t seem to affect either fighter.
Chikaze returned in less than a minute left, but Ontama quickly put him back in and stayed on top until the final horn.
