According to Athletic’s David Ornstein, Liverpool will have to sell either Andy Robertson or Costas Tsimicus if they want to sign Milos Kerkez of Bournemouth.
The Reds are looking to sign a new left back this summer as Robertson has performed poorly this season.
Even with Tsimikas at the club, manager Arne Slot is not confident in the options he has at left back and is ready to enter the market to strengthen his position.
Last summer, only one signed in the summer transfer window where the Reds signed Federico Chiesa.
They could have two new fullbacks next season, and the club was targeting Kerquez’s moves and looking for options in the market for Real Madrid’s bound Trent Alexander Arnold.
Ornstein claims that the deal that will bring Kerkez to Anfield this summer will force the club to sell either Robertson or Tsimikas.
He said on NBC Sports:
“For example, Milos Kerkes (the transfer target) in Bournemouth must leave either Robertson or Tsimicus.”
Liverpool is searching market for new left back
The 21-year-old Kerquez is one of Bournemouth’s best players this season and has shown he is destined to play for a bigger club.
Hungarian youths are excellent at defence and offensive to suit slot playing styles at Anfield.
The logical move from the Reds is to offload Tsimikas this summer as he rarely plays for them and can use Robertson’s experience to soften Kerkez into the team.
Robertson is in a position to be focused from the Liverpool hierarchy as it has been decommissioned this season.
