Delberty Lamark left Brazil and faced Burak Kizilirmak on an eight-day notification at Xtreme Combat Championship 2 in Vienna, Austria last weekend, but the fight lasted only six seconds.
Lamark’s first jab landed, slamming his head hard on the ground, and Kiziril Mac landed some heavy shots before the referee stopped the match. Fans have suspected on social media, accusing the 36-year-old Brazilian of diving, but he has denied any cheating.
“People are only watching the show, but no one sees what happens behind the scenes,” Lamark said MMA will be fighting back to Brazil.
Lamark, who runs an impressive gym with his brother in João Pessoa, Brazil, said he was offered a match eight days before the event. He left Brazil packed his bags on Wednesday and arrived in Vienna the night before the measurements.
Leaving the cage, the natural flyweight who had been actively competing in Brazil since 2018 before this match, Lamark was clearly not ready. And, despite the match being promoted by the XCC as a welterweight showdown, Lamark claims he stepped up the scale at 186 pounds for official weigh-in.
Asked about the suspension, Lamark blamed Austrian cold and sinus infections for his poor performance.
“People thought it was strange that I got hit and got off, but I don’t know what’s going to happen behind the scenes,” Lamark said. “I left Brazil, where it’s 97°F, 40°F (in Vienna). It’s a completely different world. We suffered a lot. I had bad sinus infections and rhinitis, which affected me.
“I see my strike and even in the cage I notice that I’m blowing my hands trying to warm them up. My head hurts just before the fight due to a sinus infection. I went to fight to kill or get killed.
Became 6-5 as a professional fighter, stumped by online criticism, Lamark said he plans to close his career with a higher memo, planning to compete at least one final time.
“It’s much better when you’re well trained,” Lamark said. “I haven’t shown anything. I’m very disappointed in myself. I know I’ve received 100% of the effects of a cold or sinus infection.
“It’s even if I didn’t want it, I want to go back (to the fight). My kids don’t see me because I dream of having a final fight. And I don’t want to be abroad that can’t speak the language. I want my kids to be in the ring with me.
