Demetrious Johnson is not trying to dismiss Jon Jones’ entire legacy on Picogram.
In August 2017, Jones was flagged for a potential doping violation by USADA, the former UFC drug testing partner. After both his A and B samples tested positive for the anabolic steroid Trinabor, the third round knockout of Daniel Cormier’s “Bone” at UFC 214 was overturned, dominating the non-contest. Jones was also facing a major four-year suspension from the Nevada Athletic Board.
However, NSAC chose to reduce the suspension to 18 months after USADA CEO Travis Tygart determined Jones was not intentionally fooled.
Three years later, Jeff Novitsky, senior VP of athlete health and performance at the UFC, revealed that the promotion will not be punished by fighters for having less than 100 picograms of performance-enhancing substances in the system.
Jones is said to have only 33 picograms in his system under the legal threshold, in accordance with the revised UFC rules.
demetrious Johnson “constantly protects” John Jones
In recent years, Jones has desperately called for him to overturn his victory over Comer again, giving him the credit of TKO. It could also go a long way towards ending one of the biggest debates surrounding John Jones’ bid for Jote’s status.
Speaks with Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson on the Jaxxon Podcast, former UFC and one flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson introduced the Picoglu debate and whether he should withstand “bone” status as one of the greatest ever.
“Every time I think John Jones is one of the best ever, and every time they have this conversation with someone who says, ‘No, he’s not,’ I say, ‘Well, are you serious?’ and he says, ‘Well, why are you?’ Well, you wouldn’t know what to talk about his failed drug tests and pitograms, and they say, ‘Well, it was just picoglu’,” Johnson said.
“He says, but it doesn’t trust everything you did (all) the GSP is done. So we have this argument, and he says, “So you’re arguing about someone who failed a drug test, you think he’s the best, and I was like, ‘Yeah’.”
